FAMLI

What is FAMLI?

FAMLI stands for Freshmen ASA Mentorship and Leadership Initiative. The FAMLI program is a program composed of enthusiastic executive board members and other upperclassmen who will serve as Big Sibs/mentors to freshmen. We remember how hard it could be as a freshman in a new environment, and we'd like to be there to help those of you freshman have a much more fun and smooth adjustment to Duke. Whether you need someone to tell you:

  • what classes are good (or easy),
  • which professors are cool,
  • which professors to avoid,
  • what clubs or groups would best fit your interests,
  • where they're hiding the good food on campus (although we haven't really figured that one out yet either...),
  • where the hottest parties and social events are every weekend,

or if you just want just an older friend to talk to and be there for you, the leaders in our FAMLI program have a lot to offer, and are all really chill. We hosted a Meet-N-Greet at the beginning of September with free pizza in every dorm's common room, where the representatives for each dorm showed up to talk and meet those of you who came out. If you were unable to attend, were unaware that the event was going on, or just simply didn't realize till now how awesome having a FAMLI leader and being apart of FAMLI could be, come out to meet your dorm's Big Sibs at the Welcome Picnic on Saturday, September 13 from 1-3pm at the East Gazebo! If you're interested in joining your dorm's FAMLI, contact your assigned leaders, who will be your representatives for the entire year.
