Derek Mong is a junior majoring in political science and psychology. Derek considers himself a native of Washington D.C. although he was born in Madison, Wisconsin. Derek got involved in ASA as a sophomore as the Vice President of Political Programming, when he worked to found TAASCON – the Triangle-Area Asian American Student Conference. Derek enjoys traveling, writing and journalism, filmmaking, design, and sampling new cuisines.

Helen Zou is a junior majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Neuroscience.
She is considering medical school but may follow other pursuits (like teaching!). Helen lives on the West Coast in Vancouver (not BC), Washington (not DC). She loves being a part of ASA as Freshman Representative two years ago, VP of Academic Affairs last year, and now Executive Vice President. Helen’s hobbies include baking (and eating), biking/running around campus, traveling, learning new things, and meeting new people!

Danni is a senior majoring in political science an minoring in economics and chinese. She is originally from Cincinnati, OH but spent her formative years in Scottsdale, AZ. This is her first year in ASA. Besides ASA she is involved primarily with academic organizations on campus such as American Grand Strategy and the Political Science Union.
VP Community (External) – Dawn Zhao

Dawn Zhao is a Junior majoring in Public Policy and Biology and is on the Pre-Med track. Dawn is from Dallas, Texas and has always been a southern girl. As a freshman, she loved attending ASA events and became more involved in the Duke Asian community as a Sophomore through REACH, DCD, and aKDPhi. Dawn loves food (cooking and nomming), TV (Modern Family!), yoga, and dancing.
VP Community (Internal) – Andrew Ang

Andrew is a junior Biomedical Engineering premed, with minors in Biology, and Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. He is from Hooksett, NH, and attended Phillips Andover before coming to Duke. He <3s being ASiAn and this is his first year on exec board. Besides ASA, he loves singing with his a cappella group, Rhythm and Blue, dancing with Duke Chinese Dance, and competing with the newly-formed Club Squash team at Duke. In his (minimal) free time he likes to play the piano and compose.
VP Cultural – Stephen Zhu

Stephen Zhu is a senior majoring in Economics with a Finance concentration, and minoring in Computer Science. He is from Columbia, MD and has no regrets about leaving Maryland behind for Duke – Go Blue Devils!! He has been involved in ASA since freshman, primarily by helping out with the annual Lunar New Year show, and will be the main coordinator for LNY 2012. Besides ASA, Stephen enjoys digital filmmaking, playing videogames instead of studying, and tenting for Duke basketball games.
VP Political – Remi Sun

Remi Sun is a Sophmore majoring in Political Science with an East Asian Studies concentration and a yet to be determined third piece of paper. Remi hails from the awesome Silicon Valley based in San Jose, CA. He was part of Food Committee last year and looks forward to serving as VP Political this year. Besides ASA, he also loves playing video games, watching anime, and reading.

Dawei Liu is a sophomore majoring in Economics. Dawei is from the faraway lands of Northern California, specifically Fremont, CA. He has been involved in ASA since freshman year as the Freshman Representative and is excited to take up the responsibilities of the Social Chair. Dawei loves debating, traveling, cooking and eating great food(specifically Italian), and watching or playing sports.

Christy Kim is a sophomore majoring in Visual Arts with a Pre-medicine track, minoring in Chemistry and Japanese. Christy is from Atlanta, GA but considers herself a native of both Louisiana and Texas — to maximize the “Southerness”. She has been involved in ASA since freshman year as the Freshman Publicity Chair and will continue as the Executive Publicity Chair. Christy enjoys photography, fashion/costume design, playing video games, and rapping/singing/dancing (ATL, represent! <3)
Treasurer – Emily Cao

Emily Cao is a Junior majoring in Economics and Psychology. Emily is originally from Beijing, China, but now lives in chilly Anchorage, Alaska. This is her first year on ASA Exec and she is extremely excited to further contribute to the Duke Asian community. In her free time, Emily enjoys watching movies, roadtripping with her KPL sisters, cheering on Duke basketball, and making ramen.
New Media Chair – Jesse Liu

Jesse Liu is a premed senior majoring in Biomedical Engineering. He originated from upstate New York but spent his formative years in North Virginia, close to Washington D.C. Jesse’s been a member of ASA since freshman year; last year he was the Executive Publicity Chair. Among his interests include music, photography, Photoshop, gaming, and food.
